The iconic home of the McCallisters in "Home Alone" is on the market, located in the Chicago suburb of Winnetka. It's listed for $2.4 MILLION and is just minutes from Lake Michigan.
The owners, John and Cynthia Abendshien, said they are ready to downsize now that their daughter has grown up. Apparently she became Culkin's playmate during the six-month long shoot as the family lived in the four-room master bedroom suite during the making of the film. I'm sure it provided great memories!
Imagine the bragging rights that would be associated with this piece of real estate! Not just for the connection with the beloved holiday film, but the house is breathtaking to begin with. Can someone offer me a loan? I'd put a sign on the lawn that says 'Bumbling Burglars BEWARE'!

That's so neat - love the pics! I can just see the movie scenes. Wonder if they also used the neighbors homes - for the robberies, etc!
That's a very interesting question! Some of those scenes may have been, but I think it's safe to say that the scene with the flooded basement was probably shot separate! ;)
Why doesn't Macauley Culkin buy it? He's rich enough -- wouldn't that be GREAT?
Someone in the Christmas Movies & Music group suggested it would be great if it was turned into a museum, much like the house from A Christmas Story. I think that would definitely be worth visiting!
