New Holiday DVD Releases 10/27/09

TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE SECOND SEASON

This 30-minute horror/fantasy anthology series follows in the vein of The Twilight Zone. Each week presents another standalone story of horror fantasy, and/or science fiction. Some episodes are gruesome, a few are of a lighter comedic style. Like many such shows, Tales... adapted the work of famous genre authors of the period such as Harlan Ellison, Stephen King, and Clive Barker. Many episodes also featured veteran actors of the 40's and 50's that saw very little work in their later years.

NIGHT OF THE CREEPS

In this campy chiller, a college couple, in 1959, see an object plummet to Earth like a meteor. The boy accidentally swallows a space-slug that shoots out. In 1986, two freshmen roam the campus and stumble across the corpse of the boy who swallowed the space-slug. Once thawed out, the corpse comes to life.

GRAVEYARD DISTURBANCE

Five teen friends are running from the police after they have robbed a supermarket. After passing through a thick blanket of fog, they end up in very strange inn, populated by a group a spooky people. The deformed inn keeper challenges them to spend the whole night in the underground catacombs located beneath the nearby church: if they succeed they will win a fabulous treasure. The five friends accept the challenge, unaware of the danger they are going to face… Stars: Gregory Lech Thaddeus, Lea Martino and Beatrice Ring.

NOTHING LIKE THE HOLIDAYS

It’s Christmastime in Chicago, and the far-flung members of the Rodriguez family are converging at their parents’ home to celebrate the season. During the course of this eventful week, traditions will be celebrated, secrets revealed, old resentments forgotten, familial bonds re-affirmed and the healing power of laughter will work its magic.

ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS

It's time to focus on the family with the Ice Age gang as Manny and Ellie are about to give birth to their first baby mammoth. Meanwhile, Sid adopts three eggs that he finds, not knowing that they are baby dinosaurs and that their mama is going to come looking for them. In this DVD, the Ice Age gang finds a world of dinosaurs previously unknown to them. With witty repartee that keeps you laughing and fun adventures that keep you wondering what is going to happen next, the movie entertains audiences of all ages. Some viewers might not appreciate some slightly crude humor. However, many will appreciate the overall message that friends stick together, and "family" does not necessarily mean that everybody looks and acts the same.
